If DPF regeneration fails to restore the filter’s permeability, the car’s diagnostic system detects a fault, activates corresponding warning messages, and triggers the engine’s emergency mode. This emergency mode significantly reduces engine power, but it is still possible to drive the vehicle out of traffic and reach a service station independently.

Before activating emergency mode, DPF combustion may occur quite frequently. Due to the specifics of this process, a significant amount of diesel fuel and oil can enter it, potentially causing the oil level in the engine’s crankcase to multiply, which in turn may damage the engine. Therefore, we recommend periodically checking the oil level in cars with a DPF to avoid potential problems.
